Women in Sports & TikTok – Are Pakistani dramas finally catching up to the mainstream youth content? Oh well, better late than never! Let’s throw that saas-bahu kahaani out the window and bring in the Naya Pakistan! Ahem, let’s not get too excited as the first episode is yet to be aired, but no harm in anticipating a thriller series, after all, the teasers are teasing appropriately and we are but awaiting a great summer ahead!

Laapata is an upcoming serial by Hum TV produced under the banner of MD Productions. The drama has got the viewers excited even before the release all thanks to the stellar cast. We got to see two teasers of Laapata by Hum TV this weekend. While the narrative of the story still seems to be a mystery, we are introduced to three of the main protagonists.
The first teaser featured the ever-gorgeous Sara Khan and multi-talented Ali Rehman Khan who seem to be madly in love with one another. We cannot deny that both of them looked stunning and shared great chemistry on screen together! It will be exciting to see what the narrative holds for these two. What we can predict is that these two love birds will have to face some obstacles in their path. What those obstacles will be, still remains a mystery.
We are watching Sara Khan in Raqs e Bismil at present & Ali Rehman was love in all its forms on Safar Tamam Howa, recently wrapped up, opposite the lovely Madiha Imam.
Sara is giving off tease vibes to Ali Rehman’s character who is throwing back equally romantic shade – love story it is, with many twists of course!
The second teaser featured the stunning Ayeza Khan! Ayeza Khan managed to captivate us in less than 30 seconds (no surprises, it’s what she does best)! and made us anticipate what is in store for her character. As can be seen from the trailer, Ayeza’s character is very similar to what we saw in Chupke Chupke; a bubbly girl who wants an escape from her studies and wants to get married. We will once again be seeing the Chupke Chupke duo, Asma Abbas and Ayeza Khan on screen together. Her track most certainly looks promising. However, the story progression from there onwards remains to be seen.
Another member of the stellar cast is Mirza Gohar Rasheed. Though we didn’t catch a glimpse of him in the trailer we are looking forward to what the talented actor has to offer! We are watching him in Pardes at present as Asim, and of course, fans loved him in Raaz e Ulfat as Ismail Mian opposite Yumna Zaidi’s character.

Written and directed by Khizer Idrees of Verna & Manto, Laapata will soon air on HUM TV. Though we don’t know much about the plot yet, we are eagerly looking forward to the upcoming first episode!
