What did Aliya say that made Ibrahim help her and risk his life and reputation? Was it her attempt to commit suicide that convinced him? Stress, curiosity and fear keep you hooked to Aliya, Shabbir and Ibrahim’s story in Mann Jogi.
The Story
The background story of all three characters, how they are connected, what role they have played in each other’s lives so far is related through flashbacks. Mann Jogi, in a very non-conventional manner, shows two women in Shabbir’s life, both do not dare contradict him or speak anything against his will, but are shown to be brave and vehicles of change.
The Characters
Shabbir’s mother played by Asma Abbas is so interesting to watch and her performance is mentioned worthy. She is the one who is taking care of him, while Shabbir being this bully and goon, is completely consumed by grief. She is being wise and patient rather than rash and emotional like him. Similarly, Aliya’s character is very interesting. Where she is completely subservient to Shabbir, she is the one who doesn’t wait for Ibrahim to fix the water motor at home, and it is no big deal for her to fix it all by herself while Ibrahim is completely taken aback by her independence.
A Story On Halala?
Till now, Mann Jogi has only used the concept of halala in the story but doesn’t look like it will be focusing much on that. The main focus could be on affair allegations between Ibrahim and Aliya. Maulvi sahib merely states what halala is, without going into the details or stating any conditions, thus staying away from any debatable content.
Aliya Reasons to Escape?
We are curious to know the real reason Aliya chose to run away. Is it because of the actions of Shabbir and his mother, who might have just imposed the decision of halala on her without asking or consulting her? All this might be making her realize that she is like a puppet for them, whom they can use however they want. Or after months of putting up with the insanity of Shabbir, she now finally took this as an opportune moment to escape from him? As Aliya reaches her brother’s house, you are scared for her and question why she chose to go there, will he believe her, understand her, and support her?
A Twist in the Tale
Towards the end of the episode, the focus shifts to allegations a woman might face about her character, ignoring the real issues, as Aliya’s bhabi in the next episode’s promo seems to think she is having an affair with Ibrahim. Also, the scary thing is that if something happens to Maulvi sahib, there is no proof of divorce or nikah and people might just believe the affair between Aliya and Ibrahim. The drama might go in a very dark direction.
