Is Zaid for real? Does he really believe Mubashira and actually have a soft corner for her? How can he be so gullible? Is Mein highlighting the pressure women feel for making their marriage work at any cost, ironically through Mubashira?
Keep Calm, Keep Being Ayra!
We were so glad to see Ayra not getting intimidated by Mubashira at all. What was even more appreciative, was her calm, in control attitude in front of Mubashira. Not even once was she rude or overstepped the line with her. She was cold, yet calm and firm. Well, we’re happy that Ayra got the Rs. 5 Crores. Now, even if things do not work out with Zaid, (which seems like a high probability), given Zaid is the most easily influenced character, Ayra and her bhabi will have some money to count on. Thank God she was clever enough to catch Zaid’s words that: “Mubashira has brought you”. Ayra no longer feels the same way for Zaid and thanks to that, her job will be easier.
Zaid Disappoints Yet Again
Does Zaid represent a certain segment of men who try to do the right thing, but then turn it into a favor “ahsaan”? They expect that the person they favored should now be extremely grateful for the solution provided and must not ask for more. Looks like this is the case, as he is flabbergasted by Ayra’s rightful demands and has completely forgotten how he and his father are responsible for Ayra’s misery and loss.
Ayeza Khan x Mubashira – A Powerful Combination!
Ayeza Khan delivers a great performance, shifting from the manic and screaming Mubashira to a calm, calculating, yet in extreme pain and turmoil Mubashira. It was interesting to see how Mubashira restrained herself on several instances despite many moments when she was just on the brink of losing it. As audiences, we kept waiting for that moment, and when she managed to keep a lid on it, she kept our interest going by throwing us something we didn’t expect i.e. a more calculating and cooler Mubashira.
The Cost Of Staying Married!
Mubashira’s request for Zaid to never divorce her, makes us realize how desperate she is to make her marriage work at any cost. She is willing to sacrifice her self-respect, to become a conniving and scheming person, more than what she was … just to show to the world that her 2nd marriage is working out. Mubashira, with her present actions, represents the pressure a woman faces on how society will judge her if her marriage ends up in divorce – a pressure even a strong person like her is finding hard to take.
Therapy Talk
We appreciate Mein for showing that if we are not in control of our emotions, seeking a therapist is something we must consider. However, the depiction of, and subsequent conversation with the therapist is highly questionable. We are no experts, but a therapist talking more like a friend, questioning Mubashira’s actions with clear surprise and disapproval in her voice is not something we believe therapists do. Again, her prescribing Mubashira medicine to calm her down was also something that should have been better supported or researched. We have not been adequately informed about Mubashira’s mental health condition in the story so far.
So, we wonder if the medication is purely a relaxant or will tackle underlying conditions? Should the therapist work on helping her get over the pain, the feelings that are making her react this way, or help her learn how to deal with them, rather than prescribing medicine? If Mubashira really needs medication, then the drama should have justified it with a valid reason or cause.
Moreover, we fail to understand, why Mein handles mental health issues so casually. At times, Mubashira is in a condition that she must be accompanied by a nurse, and then all of a sudden, she is fine, and now again she is visiting her therapist. Shouldn’t we witness a proper journey or a believable process so that those watching can comprehend the process as well, and maybe, perhaps even learn from it?
