New dramas have a way of appearing on the radar even when the creators work hard at keeping things under wraps. Fans and media alike make it their business to reveal the secret, and who can blame them when it’s a Farhan Saeed x Kinza Hashmi starrer with Asad Mumtaz behind the lens and penned by none other than Ali Moeen.

Na Chhura Sako Ge Daman, an upcoming project by MD Productions, is set to air on HUM TV. Created by the talented duo Asad Mumtaz of Abhi, Bin Roye and many more landmark projects and Ali Moeen of Jo Bichar Gaye, Abhi, Jhooti and more, the drama boasts a stellar cast featuring Farhan Saeed, Kinza Hashmi, Saleem Mairaj, Ali Tahir, Rashid Faruqui, Syed Tanveer Hussain, Iran Motiwala, Rana Majid Khan, Ali Sikandar, Kanwal Khan, Rabia Rizwan, and Neha Khan.
We were fortunate to have director Asad Mumtaz take our questions on the upcoming project which, by the way, might or might not keep the name Na Chhura Sako Ge Daman, but for the moment, it’ll have to do as a working title. Here’s what the director had to tell us about the drama that’s already creating quite the buzz on our socials. After all, one doesn’t take a Farhan Saeed x Kinza Hashmi starrer lightly yeah?
But first thing’s first, this lead pair has never appeared together onscreen and we had to ask…
The casting Farhan Saeed and Kinza Hashmi leads. What made you to take on this pair?
Asad Mumtaz: “Yes, I have read many questions regarding this. This drama will change the screen Insha Allah,” the director responds confidently. The reason behind taking Kinza and Farhan was that they have not worked with each other previosuly and they were perfect for the characters.” The director went on to add: “Both of them are very good actors and very hardworking too, so everything fit like a glove.”
Asad Mumtaz goes on to say about his lead pair:
“They are putting in so much energy in the project. They have very good vibes whenever they come on set. And my intention with HUM TV, Momina Duraid Productions and Momina Duraid was that these producers pick different stories, not typical saas-bahu dramas. In this story, you will get to see a lot of different themes, it’s not a “drawing room serial” and the messages will hit different.”
“The drama is definitely not a political thriller, it is not even action oriented,” reveals the director, putting that debate to rest! “It’s an out and out love story – a pure love story”
Aha, now you’ve got our attention Mr. Director! (Say all the fans reading this)!
On the shoot and possible locations?
Asad Mumtaz: “This story revolves around a few cities in Punjab. We are still shooting in Lahore and in the suburbs of Lahore as well.” Added the director.
So how is Na Chhura Sako Ge Daman Mera planning to break through the clutter?
Asad Mumtaz: “I would like to say that the screen that we are going to show you, you haven’t seen that anywhere yet. The content will be a change from the usual.” states the director. “And the audience will enjoy it.” He adds.
Asad Mumtaz pays tribute to his cast:
“All the actors in this project are great actors and they all played their roles with a lot of heart and with a lot of happiness, I am a fan of all the actors,” reiterated the director and he caps off with: “They have all done a great job!”
On the story:
Yes, it’s a love story, but is it for young audiences, we ask? Our curisoity piques but naturally…
Asad Mumtaz responds: “The interesting thing about this drama is that it will be relatable to both the young and old generation. And both will love it and take away a lot from it, Inshallah.”
With Farhan Saeed part of a project, that too, a love story, we expect music to play a big part. Tell us more!
Asad Mumtaz drops the gold here: “As I said, it’s purely a love story, a musical, and the music, the songs are very good. I like it a lot and I hope people will like it a lot as well.”
A musical love story is surely one to get fans cheering and one can’t help but wait to see who’s sung the background score for Na Chhura Sako Ge Daman! Guess we’ll have to wait for that one!
Asad Mumtaz goes on to pay tribute to his journey with HUM: “My work is mostly with MD Productions. I got my break from MD Productions and HUM TV as a director. I got my break from HUM TV as an actor. My stars are more from HUM TV and MD Productions” reveals the director. “As I said, it’s purely a love story, a musical, and the music, the songs are very good. I like it a lot and I hope people will like it a lot as well.”
On how the story came into being?
Asad Mumtaz responds with a vision he had for the project: “We have designed this story based on our culture and society. I drew no inspiration from anywhere else for this drama. I had thought of this story in Bahawalpur. Allah had given me this story in Bahawalpur when I was working with Saif-e-Hassan Bhai in Jhok Sarkar. During that time, Allah had given me this story on screen, Saif Bhai has played a vital role in bringing this story to the screen. He has helped me a lot.” Rounds off the director, revealing how and when it came to him.
Of course, the mention of Jhok Sarkar will ring a few bells, especially among Farhan Saeed fans, loud ones no doubt! The fact that the story was born on the sets of a beloved drama and with the help of a beloved director – Saife Hasan, no doubt set the wheels in motion. Add that to your ‘upcoming drama hype’ Pakistani drama fans, we think the wait will be worth it!
The director reiterated once more on the story, underlining the entertainment factor here, also stressing on his close bond and working relationship with writer Ali Moeen:
“I and Ali Moeen have been working together for 8 years. We have prepared a few things and this is the first of those works of mine and Ali’s to see the light of day, and it is a full-blown love story. I don’t want to reveal too much. But what I do want to say is, that it has nothing to do with politics. It’s pure entertainment!”
We couldn’t help but ask…
How is it like to be on the sets of a drama with Asad Mumtaz in the director’s chair?
The director responds instantly: “I am the boss on the set. And whatever I have visualized, I try my best to make it as I have visualized it. I want it to be like that. But I don’t bind my actors. I give them the opportunity to give their input and if we are benefiting from the input, I absolutely accept it and appreciate it.” Responds the director generously. “A good suggestion and adding value to the story and on-screen? I accept it with a happy heart.”
