The Reason For Its Delay
Maula Jatt was expected to be released earlier in India but the screening was postponed after extremist political parties threatened to create havoc. They warned not to release the Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan starrer in their country. However, it will be released by the end of this year. The Indian fans of the star cast are looking forward to witnessing the magic of their favorite Pakistani stars on the big screens.
Zee Studios, the distributor of The Legend Of Maula Jatt in India, was expected to release the movie on December 23. but they changed the release date to avoid its box office competition with Ranveer Singh’s Cirkus. The distributor is focusing the release in Indian Punjab first, because the movie is in Punjabi language and the movie will attract maximum number of audiences.
According to Bollywood Hungama, “Maybe, Zee can release The Legend Of Maula Jatt on December 30 in the North and week later, it can release it in the rest of the country once the word of mouth spreads”. It is expected to earn healthy revenue too.
Although the news has not been met on a congratulatory note from all Indian audiences, some are skeptical about screening a Pakistani movie in the current hostile atmosphere between the two countries, let’s hope Art can help build bridges and The Legend Of Maula Jatt will be screened successfully in India, opening doors to more screenings on both sides of the border! We are happy for the Indian fans that they could finally watch our globally loved ‘Legend’ on their cinema screens.
