Karachi Kings Finally End Losing Streak
After eight consecutive defeats, Karachi Kings finally had their first win on Friday the 18th of February against Lahore Qalandars by 22 runs, leaving fans overjoyed with their performance. Though Karachi Kings are no longer in the race for the PSL 7 finals, Babar Azam and the team ended the season on a high note. Karachi Kings dedicated the win to their fans on Twitter when they tweeted, “This one is for our fans”. Their last match will be against Quetta Gladiators on Sunday the 20th of February and we wish them the best!
Meet Pakistan’s First Locally-Trained Female Surgical Oncologist
This week Dr Kashmala Amjad Malik became Pakistan’s first locally-trained female surgical oncologist. She proved her mettle multiple times and became a trailblazer in her domain after clearing her second fellowship exam. As per Dr Kashmala’s LinkedIn profile, she is based in Lahore but hails from Peshawar. She is also an alumnus of Aga Khan University where she completed her education in General Surgery. She passed her second fellowship examination in Surgical Oncology from Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital (Accredited by CPSP) in Lahore. (Source: Wow 360)
After A Decade Of neglect, One Foundation Has Taken The Responsibility To Renovate Maestro Mehdi Hasan’s Gravesite
The Salman Sufi Foundation recently decided that they were going to step in and take the responsibility of renovating and maintaining Mehdi Hasan’s gravesite. The founder of the Salman Sufi Foundation told the news outlet that the reason they had decided to take up this project was that ‘our artists deserve way more respect than we are currently giving them and Mehdi Hasan’s grave does not resonate with the stature of his music and personality and that they consider it a deep honour to renovate Hasan sahib’s grave’. The legendary Bappi Lahiri, aka, Bappi Da and ‘The Disco King’ passed away on the 16th of February due to multiple illnesses post COVID. Over the decades he brought us great hits such as Tamma Tamma Loge, Auva Auva, Koi Yahan Aha Nache, Jimmy Jimmy Aja Aja and many more. Bappi Lahiri was laid to rest in the presence of his family members and relatives at Pawan Hans crematorium in Mumbai on Thursday the 17th of February. Our heart goes out to his fans and our deepest condolences to the family.
‘Yaara Vey’ Featuring A Love Triangle, All Set To Release On June 17th
The film was originally scheduled to be released in 2020 but due to the pandemic, it got delayed. ‘Yaara Vey’ will now be released globally, with the exception of India on the 17th of June 2022. The film has been shot in multiple scenic locations around the globe and will feature a love triangle between the three main leads Aleeze Nasser, Sami Khan and Faizan Khwaja. Other notable cast members include Marina Khan, Jawed Sheikh, Ali Sikander, Asad Khan, Poonam Pandey and many more. ‘Yaara Vey’ has been written by Althea Kaushal, the dialogues are by Mahwash Ijaz and it has been directed by Manish Pawar. The film has been produced by Beeline Productions in Dubai and shot in Thailand.
What’s The New ‘Space-Flavored’ Drink That Has People Excited?
Coca-Cola recently released a Starlight flavour under their Creations Line. According to Coca-Cola, it has “notes reminiscent of stargazing around a campfire, as well as a cooling sensation that evokes the feeling of a cold journey to space…Starlight was created with the vision that in a world of infinite possibilities somewhere in our universe, another kind of Coca-Cola, another way of connecting with each other might exist”. The limited-edition flavour is currently available only in the United States and will only be sold for about six months. Starlight will be available for about six months, according to Coca-Cola.
Victoria’s Secret Features First Model With Down Syndrome
Victoria’s Secret has been in the news recently for their latest campaign featuring Puerto Rican model Sofía Jirau who has Down Syndrome. Jirau joins 17 other women in the company’s newest campaign, the Love Cloud collection, which features women described by the company as being from a “myriad of backgrounds”. The campaign was launched on Thursday the 17th of February. (Source: NPR)
