It melts our heart and we also find ourselves teary-eyed when we see Meenu’s eyes watering up walking barefoot to her college. Then she makes us smile along with all the other students in the class as she relates her story, sharing at the end that she is also a student just like them. And this is exactly how we can sum up the magic of Zard Patton Ka Bunn… tears followed by a smile.

Outdoor Pakistan
The outdoor scenes are such a treat to watch, maybe the creators themselves are not aware of their valuable contribution. They are not only showing us the beautifully raw landscape of Pakistan that is not featured much in our dramas, but also highlighting the impactful and physically exerting role a woman plays in daily life, especially if she lives in a village. Watching Meenu drink water from the tube well was such delightful moment.
A Woman’s Work Is Never Done (In Pakistan)
Meenu chopping wood with an axe, carrying grass bundles on her head, doing probably more than her brothers, then waking up Roshan from slumber, was indeed a reflection of the lower income classes in Pakistani cities, where women go out to work as domestic help and perform many other roles, while men sit at home, spending their earnings.
A Heartwarming Relationship
Meenu and Roshan’s relationship is a heart winner. Roshan with his goofy conversations and his eyes shining with unrealized dreams is hard to resist, and we can’t help but root for him. Yes we did want him to help Meenu reach college somehow and not walk all the way there. His feelings for Muqaddas are unwavering and respectful…
Family Planning & Education Fails
The drama addresses how, maybe all the work related to family planning is not making an impact. The conversation between the two workers makes one think if the approach needs to be changed somehow since the existing approach and efforts are not working out. Let’s see if the drama will tackle this point.
How education is still not a priority in the community is highlighted by the fact that even the school headmaster is busy wasting his time in some sort of local gambling game.
Medical Negligence & How To Tackle It Responsibly
The power of social media helps Nofil make the hospital rethink how they should deal with the scenario, not scaring them enough though. Will Malaika choose career over Nofil? Will this lead to Nofil accepting the govt. job in a faraway village?
ZPKB must be appreciated for raising the issue of medical negligence but without creating sentiments in viewers to cause any hard feelings or call for provoking irrational damage or protests. It presses for taking the route of inquiry so that these incidents must not be repeated, leading to a loss of lives. The drama is in fact, educating audiences to raise their voice in a more responsible manner.
