Bas Tera Saath Ho: Anas-Ansa’s Nikkah Scene Was the Representation We Hope to See More Often Onscreen

Bas Tera Saath Ho started off with a lot of criticism surrounding its storyline, with many calling it a copy/paste, an imitated version, or better yet, a continuation of Mere Humsafar with reversed roles. But the story has taken a completely different track and has now given us plenty of reasons to talk about it – and this time, in a positive way.

Bas Tera Saath Ho: Anas-Ansa’s Nikkah Scene Was the Representation We Hope to See More Often Onscreen

And just like that, Ansa saying a straight no to marrying Anas under the circumstances that they were in was quite satisfying for us to watch, since it did complete justice to her character, the Ansa who we saw in the beginning, who stood up for her rights, for the wrongs she saw around her, and everything in between. What the storyline did really well was it didn’t show Ansa being completely selfless and changed after the video incident happened. When she knew she didn’t do anything wrong, she didn’t compromise on anything, she didn’t become a damsel in distress, and this was so comforting to watch because it would’ve been very unfair to the audiences otherwise.

Last night, when we watched the very last scene where Ansa and Anas got nikkahfied in the mosque, the scene gave us a handful of reasons to talk about, to be proud of the writer-director duo for portraying our religion in its purest form and for not shying away from showing a girl taking part actively in what should be written in her Haq Mehar, and how Anas gave his all for Ansa because he wanted her to feel safe. Glad Anas didn’t get pressured by Mursaleen and kept his share to himself. One more thing that should be appreciated was the detailing of the scene, the Qurani Verse, them coming into the mosque, the verse seemed to have given them clear signals, and it was so soothing to watch all of it on screen.

“Rizq ka waada toh Allah ne kiya hai, jo khud khaaunga, isay bhi khilaunga.” Oh Anas, you have won us over.

Qasim Ali Mureed and late Saira Raza have truly outdone themselves here because we didn’t get to see these kinds of things enough in our dramas. It is so important, especially because a lot of the new generation is watching dramas these days, and this drama is delivering so many powerful messages through these small yet meaningful moments.

Anas also has shown us a very different side of masculinity that we rarely get to see on our screens, him being innocent, someone who would not speak up for his rights or against someone who does wrong to him, and then the same Anas standing up for Ansa in whatever way he could, handling all decisions into her hands so she doesn’t feel controlled and doesn’t feel like a bechari was a win-win. Now we know Anas could take everything but not any disrespect being thrown at people he loves, people who are dear to him, and that’s why we all are rooting for Anas-Ansa now. Can’t wait to see them fall for each other, that too, in the most unpleasant circumstances.

Farhan Saeed and Sana Javed both are doing impeccable jobs as their characters. You could see the fearless Ansa even now and a more mature, restrained but brave Anas!

Here’s what fans are saying about the last episode on X.

Okay, so I was watching this with my ama and I wanted to post about it so bad. Idk if they're gonna ruin this show ahead or whatever but this scene was peak. The Quranic ayat and him walking in and then they got nikahfied in the next scene, cute<3#BasTeraSaathHo pic.twitter.com/ZrhiK32hE8

Why did I cry? Everything about this moment was so pure, from the confession to the sense of understanding to Ansa realizing the level of commitment from Anas when he gives her his house. Loved it & can’t wait to see how Ansa-Anas grow together. #BasTeraSaathHo #PakistaniDramas pic.twitter.com/WeA6bLdyHO

What's good in Anas is that he can tolerate being insulted, but when it comes to the people he loves, he can't. Shareen did it last time, but not again.

This is what makes me optimistic that he will change quickly, just to save and support Ansa.#BasTeraSaathHo #FarhanSaeed pic.twitter.com/d2x5jYdpDu

Drama peaked today that Quranic Ayat when Anas entered the Masjid, the conversation between Anas & Ansa, the Haq Mehar debate how beautiful our Islam is 😭😭🤌🏻🤌🏻 Qasim Ali Mureed, late Saira Raza and lead cast deserve so much appreciation for these beautiful scenes #BasTeraSaathHo

liked that Ansa doesn't compromise even in her bad situations. She doesn't want to marry him just because he feels sorry for her. And Anas' confession left her surprised and confused.#BasTeraSaathHo #FarhanSaeed #SanaJaved pic.twitter.com/FXivL5S0t0

I love the fact that even at her lowest, Ansa refuses to be treated like a charity case, especially by a person like Anas, who has a lot to prove not just to Ansa but to himself
Right now, her mistrust in Anas is justified at every level.#SanaJaved #FarhanSaeed
