New drama Goonj just dropped the first episode and the story has us invested already. Read on to know why this might be your next drama watch!

Goonj begins with Zarnab (Komal Meer) recording an emotional video message for her father. After that, the story goes back six months to show how everything led up to that moment.
Zarnab, Nazish and their younger sister have been raised by a single dad played by Khaled Anam.
Zarnab essayed by Komal Meer is working at a creative agency while her sister Nazish is a lawyer. Zarnab faces competition at work from Gohar Rasheed’s character who feels she’s merely getting preferential treatment because she’s a woman. The dynamics get more complicated as new colleague Ahmed played by Feroz Kadri joins work and seems to have a liking for Zarnab.
Nazish’s boss played by Ali Safina is interested in her but surprise, surprise, he’s previously married and divorced with a young daughter.
The drama is hitting a first in showing single dads who are completely hands-on at home; from prepping breakfast to pampering his girls, the role is already heartwarming to watch with Khaled Anam essaying the character.
All main characters are hitting the highs; from Komal’s controlled yet angry responses to Gohar’s character, Feroz Kadri’s overly enthusiastic yet not OTT vibe and Gohar’s menacing attitude at work.
The performances, outfits, production, clean frames and look of the characters and sets leaves nothing out. Komal’s wardrobe is giving working girl goals. And the youngest sister’s story, as well as Srha Asgr playing Ahmed’s sister (Feroz Kadri) should unfold soon.
Feroz Kadri and Gohar Rasheed have worked on their look, fielding a completely different one and setting them apart from their recently played characters.
Why Goonj Feels Real And Worth Watching
One thing that really stands out in Goonj is how it shows what girls and women go through when they try to do something different. The youngest sister just wants to play sports at school, but even then, the girls face harassment from boys who don’t want to share space. Then there’s Zarnab, dealing with a male colleague who keeps putting her down and claiming her success is only because she’s a woman. What makes the show even more refreshing is the role of the father, he’s not just supportive, but also emotionally present. He trusts his daughters, lets them follow their own paths, and keeps a comforting, open relationship with them. He’s very open to accepting their choices, even when one of them, Nazish (played by Michelle Mumtaz), is interested in a divorced man who has a daughter. There’s no drama or judgment, just support and acceptance. Goonj doesn’t try to be loud or preachy, but it gently brings out the challenges women face when they step outside traditional roles. These small, honest moments make it a show that really connects. That’s why Goonj feels like a show worth watching.
This one’s definitely on our watchlist and we’d recommend catching up as the new drama season delivers brand new stories.
Goonj airs every Monday evening on HUM TV.
