In the land of Ishq Murshid, Fazal Baksh is someone who is an absolute treat to watch. Although Shahmeer is our hero with politically high handed and questionable actions, yet we are still warming up to him, hoping his reasons are noble and we will get to witness his journey.

Strange phenomenon but it’s a fantasy world!
For a moment, one would question, why would the family wait till 10:30pm for Fazal Baksh, why would they offer him a place to stay at their house? But then we must remember that Ishq Murshid is a fantasy genre and inhabits a world of its own. Also, Shibra’s parents feel greatly obliged to Fazal Baksh for taking her mother to the hospital just in time. Shahmeer as Fazal Baksh has convinced them that he is a genuine, honest, simple and harmless person, so they feel it is okay to help him.
Ishq Murshid becomes very interesting, all thanks to Shahmeer and Fazal Baksh. The two characters that run parallel are completely opposite each other and offer us something different to watch.
Chemistry Wanting
But our question is: can Shahmeer and Fazal Baksh make up for the lack of chemistry between the lead couple on screen? Should a screen test, a few scenes shot together to check how the pair appears and interacts onscreen become an essential and binding rule for casting going forward? How, in all fairness, can the audience enjoy a love story when there is no chemistry in the romance? Wouldn’t it benefit makers to go a step further to ensure their investment, time and effort is worthwhile.
The Grey Hero?
Shahmeer has kidnapped the sons of rival politicians and is threatening their parents as well. For a hero to perform this action, is for sure questionable, but then we are hoping that the drama will show that his mother was not corrupt, although his father is. Shahmeer is simply trying to save his mother’s party at all costs and hence, his reasons are noble. We hope he will rise above these terror tactics and do the right thing eventually. Or maybe, just like we accept criminals and flawed characters as heroes on OTT platforms, we must do the same here.
The other way to look at this is, that Ishq Murshid is a story of a corrupt politician and eventually he will pay a price, it was never the story of a virtuous and law-abiding hero.
What does Shibra stand for?
Shibra continues to be this judgmental person, saying and assuming, Fazal Baksh would have never tried any of the food prepared that day. She can’t stand rich people; she judges people whom she thinks are below her… then what does she really stand for?
How are we supposed to root for Shibra?
Bilal Abbas Khan & Noor ul Hassan Moments
One of the most entertaining moments in the drama are the scenes between Bilal Abbas Khan and Noor Ul Hassan. They both complement each other and bring life to their scenes. Their interactions make us smile and are thoroughly enjoyable. The way Fazal Baksh chatters non-stop and then apologizes instantly, is endearing. The latest episode introduces Mehreen as the childhood friend who is in love with Shahmeer, though Shahmeer has clearly told her that he doesn’t feel the same way. But will he be willing to make her think otherwise to strengthen his party and gather support from her father?
What Could Have Been Better!
Dramas scripted in Urdu are expected to present the correct version of a spoken language. Can we request script writers and the team to pay extra attention to the phrases delivered or penned: Is Ujagar the right word to use for bhook? “Meree bhook ujaagar ho gai”.
5 kilograms milk to prepare kheer for 5 people, really? Yes, we might seem too critical, but it sounds funny when we heard it and we also wondered, if the mother has just recovered from surgery, how will she prepare this generous helping of kheer (enough for the entire neighborhood). And from someone experienced like her, 5 kgs is certainly an exaggerated number. And just for fun, itnee mehngai mein 5 kilo doodh kay paisay kahan sey aaye?
