What a week it’s been! With so much going on, it’s easy for a few things to slip by – and that’s exactly where we come in.

FUCHSIA – The Week In Rewind
FUCHSIA – The Week In Rewind

This week was packed with major stories – from breaking news and sad moments to ongoing dramas. Here’s a quick look at the events that caught attention across the country and around the world.

1. Did Bigg Boss Just Copy Tamasha? The Two Sides Of The Debate!

Did Bigg Boss Just Copy Tamasha? The Two Sides Of The Debate!
Bigg Boss vs Tamasha

For years, Bigg Boss has ruled South Asian television as the ultimate reality show. Week after week, season after season, it has defined what chaos, strategy, and drama inside a confined house should look like. But this time, something feels different. Just as Pakistani reality show Tamasha stormed into its fourth season with it’s signature format, Bigg Boss 19 has suddenly decided to hand over its powers to the contestants. And now, a storm of debate is brewing – has Bigg Boss actually copied this theme from Tamasha?

Another angle that fans have pointed out lies beyond just the format – it’s the way episodes are being released online. For the first time in its history, Bigg Boss full episodes are being uploaded on YouTube by Colors TV. Until now, the network had kept full episodes exclusive to television and its OTT partner platforms like Voot and JioCinema. On the other hand, ARY Digital has always uploaded Tamasha episodes on YouTube since its first season, making the show easily accessible to audiences in Pakistan and abroad. Read more here!

2. Jama Taqseem: Another Pakistani Drama Ready To Test A Man Struggling To Balance Love & Family

Jama Taqseem: Another Pakistani Drama Ready To Test A Man Struggling To Balance Love & Family
Jama Taqseem

When it comes to Pakistani dramas, one theme that never seems to lose its grip is the good old joint family system. Add a love story, some possessiveness, a few heated arguments and voilà, you’ve got the perfect recipe for conflict. Jama Taqseem, the upcoming drama starring Mawra Hocane and Talha Chahour, seems to be exactly that but with its own dramatic flavor. The name itself says a lot. Jama means togetherness and Taqseem means division. That’s pretty much the heartbeat of the drama. The teaser reflects that perfectly with warmth and attachment mixed with tension and resistance.

Talha Chahour is once again stepping into the shoes of a man who cannot separate himself from his family. His character seems deeply attached, maybe even dependent, on them, making his life incomplete without their presence. Enter Mawra Hocane, the new bride who struggles to fit into the household dynamics, setting the stage for possible clashes. It’s a classic dilemma, when a man finds himself stuck between the expectations of his family and the love for his wife. Who gets the priority? Who makes the sacrifices? And most often, it is the wife, being the new one, who is expected to adjust every time.

Jama Taqseem is starting from September 10 and will air twice a week, every Wednesday and Thursday on HUM TV.

3. Brad Pitt and Joaquin Phoenix Are Now Executive Producers of The Voice of Hind Rajab – Here’s Why It Matters

Brad Pitt and Joaquin Phoenix Are Now Executive Producers of The Voice of Hind Rajab - Here’s Why It Matters
The Voice of Hind Rajab

In 2024, the story of Hind Rajab shook the entire world. For many, the five-year-old’s desperate final calls from Gaza were a wake-up call to the sheer brutality civilians continue to face. Now, her story is being retold in The Voice of Hind Rajab, a film that has brought together Brad Pitt, Joaquin Phoenix, Rooney Mara and others as executive producers. What makes the involvement of Brad Pitt, Phoenix, Mara, and others so significant is not simply their fame, it’s their decision to lend global visibility to Hind’s story at a time when Gaza is still under fire and international outrage is fractured. Their support means this film cannot be ignored or quietly buried.

Her story is not just about one child. It is a reminder of the Palestinian fight, of the countless innocent lives lost from 2023 onwards and long before. Now, as famine is officially declared in Gaza, The Voice of Hind Rajab feels even more urgent. Perhaps this film is exactly what we need – to confront the reality of what is happening and to ensure Hind’s voice continues to echo.

4. Killing The Messenger: How Israel Is Waging War On Journalism

Killing The Messenger: How Israel Is Waging War On Journalism

Gaza has become the deadliest place on earth for journalists. The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) reports that with Monday’s five deaths, the toll has climbed to at least 247 media workers killed since the war began on October 7, 2023. Every one of those killed has been Palestinian, as Israel continues to block foreign correspondents from entering Gaza. Among those who lost their lives on Monday were Hussam al-Masri, a Reuters photojournalist; Moaz Abu Taha, who worked with NBC; Mariam Abu Dagga, a reporter for The Independent Arabia and the Associated Press; and Ahmad Abu Aziz of Middle East Eye. Mohammad Salama, a cameraman with Al Jazeera, was also killed in the strike.

Gaza today is not only a graveyard for its people – it is fast becoming a graveyard for press freedom itself. Each attack on a journalist chips away at the fragile notion that truth still matters in times of war. And the world’s silence in the face of this carnage speaks volumes. For all the lofty declarations about the sanctity of press freedom, what remains is hypocrisy, a global order that values truth only when it is convenient. If we cannot protect those who risk everything to tell the story, then who will tell the story of what was lost? If we bury our witnesses alongside the victims, history itself will be written by those who killed them.

5. Audiences Outrage On Main Manto Nahi Hoon: Student-Teacher Romance Sparks Debate

Main Manto Nahin Hoon Teaser 3 Seals the Deal. There's No Way We're Not Watching First Episode, First Day!
Main Manto Nahi Hoon

From the very beginning of Main Manto Nahi Hoon, ever since Mehmal (Sajal Aly) enrolled at the university, viewers have noticed her growing interest in her professor, Manto (Humayun Saeed). She has been shown paying close attention to details about him – wondering whether he is married, if he lives alone, and observing his quiet, reserved personality.

In the latest episode, this connection was further highlighted when Mehmal’s cousin Farhaad (Azaan Sami Khan) forcefully pursued her. Manto stepped in to shield her, holding her hand and trying to protect her from the confrontation. His attempt to safeguard her led to him being attacked and beaten up by Farhaad’s guards – a turning point that has intensified the narrative and might have attempted to place the student-teacher bond at the heart of the story.

Student–teacher dynamics have often been explored in fiction worldwide, where such storylines are used to create tension, highlight social boundaries, or address cultural taboos. In South Asian dramas, the portrayal of power, respect, and hierarchy in educational settings carries added weight, since teachers are traditionally regarded as mentors and moral guides. Within this context, Main Manto Nahi Hoon introduces its own interpretation of the trope by situating it alongside themes of family conflict and social pressures, brought to life by a high-profile cast. Pakistan’s Punjab On High Alert After India Releases Dam Water – All You Need To Know

Pakistan is once again facing devastating floods, with Punjab province on exceptionally high alert after India released water from its dams. The Ravi River is already running at dangerously high levels, and evacuations are underway in several districts. Authorities have moved over 150,000 people to safer ground, while army troops are assisting in rescue and relief operations. Villages near the Ravi, Sutlej, and Chenab are particularly vulnerable, with the next 48 hours described as critical.

The Indus Waters Treaty (IWT), signed in 1960 with World Bank mediation, divides the six major rivers of the Indus basin between the two countries. India was given control of the eastern rivers, Ravi, Beas, Sutlej, while Pakistan was guaranteed rights to the western rivers, Indus, Jhelum, Chenab. India is allowed limited use of the western rivers for hydropower and irrigation, provided it does not significantly alter flows. Earlier this year, India declared the treaty “in abeyance” after the Pahalgam attack, but the current water release is not linked to that decision. Read more here!
